Fischer Doubles Through Eastgate

[user145752]

Action started with Peter Eastgate raising under the gun to 37,000. Action folded to Bastian Fischer in the hijack, and he put in a three-bet to 74,000. It folded back around to Eastgate, who thought for about 15 seconds before raising all in. Fischer quickly called off his remaining stack, and the two tabled their cards.

Fischer: {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Eastgate: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}

The flop gave Eastgate some hope, as it came {6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{j-Spades}. Eastgate could now catch a queen or a spade to win the hand, and while the turn was black card, it was the {4-Clubs}. Fischer was looking to fade the river for the double up, and he did that, as the {a-Diamonds} gave him the pot.

After that hand, Fischer is up to to 950,000, while Eastgate drops to 700,000.

Vogel Strengthens Chip Lead, Eliminates Auclair

[user145752]

Action started with Matthieu Auclair raising it up to 38,000 in middle position. Donald Vogel defended his big blind, and they went heads up to a flop of {j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}. Vogel check called a bet of 53,000, and the turn brought the {3-Spades}. Vogel checked again, and Auclair fired out 86,000 this time.

After about 20 seconds of thought, Vogel announced raise, and slid out a tower of the green T25,000 chips that looked to be about 600,000. This represented most of if not all of Auclair's above average chip stack, so it was a very big decision. After about 45 seconds, Auclair announced all in, and Vogel snap called.

Vogel: {7-Diamonds}{7-Spades}
Auclair: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Auclair had top pair top kicker, but he was drawing dead to Vogel's set of sevens. Auclair was sent to the rail, while Vogel is now up over 2 million.

Teatum Out, Queen Up

Alexander Queen raised it up from late position and Richard Teatum moved all in for around 200,000. The rest of the table folded back to Queen who made the call.

Queen: {A-}{q-}
Teatum: {A-}{J-}

The board came {2-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{6-}{6-}{7-} and with that Teatum was our first causality of the day.

Twenty Two Left: Donald Vogel Leads, Peter Eastgate Not Far Behind

Will Today be Bracelet #1 for Holden?
Will Today be Bracelet #1 for Holden?

Welcome back to the Rio! We are hoping to award another bracelet tonight, as 22 players return for Day 3 of Event 56: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em. It's deja vu all over again from yesterday, as Donald Vogel is your chip leader coming into today with just under 1.3 million. Vogel was also the leader heading into Day 2 of this event.

He's got two players nipping at his heels who are also in the million chip club. Gianluca Mattia will be looking to take the bracelet home to his native country Italy, but safe to say that most eyes will be on 2008 WSOP Main Event Champion Peter Eastgate, who comes into today third in chips.

Eastgate has not registered a cash at the WSOP since 2009. As many know, Eastgate shocked the poker world when he announced that he was retiring from poker in 2010. However, he has made his return to the felt, and he will be looking to add a second bracelet to his already growing poker legacy.

There are a couple other players to keep your eye on as well. Alexander Queen, or "Argentina Boy" as he is known online, comes into today with 585,000 in chips. He already has a final table this year, finishing 8th in Event 13: $1,500 Limit Hold'em. He will be looking to top that today.

Also still in the hunt are 2011 November Niner Sam Holden(425,000), and WPT Champion Will "The Thrill" Failla, who comes into today as the short stack with just 85,000.

Play will get underway at 1 PM local time, and the goal is to play down to a winner! If we don't have a winner after 10 levels, the staff and remaining players will decide whether to continue play tonight, or come back for a Day 4 tomorrow. Stay tuned to Pokernews for every flop, turn, and river, as we bring you all of today's action!
