Event 58: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better

Nguyen Doubles Through Cousineau

With a board reading {5-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}, Roch Cousineau checked and watched Binh Nguyen bet out 22,000. Cousineau proceeded to check-raise the pot and Nguyen got his stack all in.

The dealer quickly put out the {6-Diamonds} on the river, giving Nguyen the nut flush and the low, meaning he scooped the pot and doubled.

That Was Fast

We thought the eliminations would come quickly in the early stages of the day, but not this quickly. We just looked up at the tournament area and saw John Guth and Karl Mahrenholz exiting the tournament area at the exact same time. They were both extremely short stacked starting the day, so it's not all that surprising that would get their stacks in, but it is a little surprising that they were eliminated on the same hand.

Welcome back to our continued coverage of the 2012 World Series of Poker. Today will see one of the last few gold bracelets of the summer awarded to one of the 31 players who return here in Event 58: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better.

The chip leader, and the player arguably best pressed to make a run at the title, is Felicia Johnico. A big Day 2 saw Johnico bag up 397,000 in chips as she will look to follow in Vanessa Selbst's foot steps to become the second female to win a bracelet in an open event during this year's series.

Joining Johnico at the top of the chip leader board is Yuval Bronshtein. One of the biggest hands of last night went straight into Bronshtein's chip stack and now he will start Day 3 with 377,000 in chips. Bronshtein has already had success this summer, finishing in fifth place in Event 42: $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low 8-or-Better. We are sure that final table left him hungry for gold and as such he will be one to watch today.

Right on Bronshtein's tail is none other than David "ODB" Baker. It's been a big summer for Baker as he managed to win his first WSOP gold bracelet just a couple of weeks ago, bringing home the victory in Event 37: $2,500 Eight-Game Mix. He will be aiming to join the elite club of multiple bracelet winners today, and with 365,000 in chips, he gives himself a good chance to do exactly that.

While the above players will be tough to beat, the likes of Stephen Su, Randy Ohel, Kyle Bowker, Josh Field, Bryan Devonshire, Mickey Appleman, Antony Lellouche, Antonie Saout, Binh Nguyen, John Shipley and Chris Bell will also be at the felt today and will be looking to make a run at the title. Below is the top ten chip stacks heading into the day.
