Jack Ward Eliminated in 7th Place ($43,840)

Jack Ward
Jack Ward

David "ODB" Baker raised to 55,000 from the cutoff only to have Jack Ward three-bet to 201,000 from the button. Both blinds got out of the way, Baker potted, and Ward called off for 259,000 total.

Showdown
Baker: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Ward: {A-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{9-Spades}{J-Diamonds}

"You can pair that card," Ward told Baker about his four on the {3-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}, eluding to the fact that he would make a wheel. It was certainly wishful thinking, and a wish that would not come true as the {5-Spades} appeared on the turn followed by the {3-Diamonds} on the river.

Ward was all smile as he shook hands with a few players and then exited the stage in seventh place, good for $43,840.

Bell Takes From Baker

Chris Bell was under the gun when he opened it up to 60,000. Yuval Bronshtein called on his direct left and it was around to David "ODB" Baker in the small blind. A call from Baker and all three players would check the {3-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{3-Hearts} flop.

On the {j-Clubs} turn, Baker led for 150,000 and Chris Bell shoved all in for almost 500,000. Bell's opponents were quickly out of the way and Bell raked in some chips.

Dinner Break

• Tase 23: 10,000-20,000, 0 ante

Players are now on a 75-minute dinner break. When they return, the plan is to either play down to a winner or four more levels, whatever may come first. Our guess is it'll be the latter.

Scotty Nguyen Eliminated in 8th Place ($33,789)

Scotty Nguyen
Scotty Nguyen

We didn't catch the preflop action, but we do know that on a flop of {3-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} things exploded between Scotty Nguyen and David "ODB" Baker that resulted in the former being all in for around 240,000.

Showdown
Nguyen: {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Baker: {3-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{K-Clubs}

Both players had flopped trip threes, but Baker's ace kicker had him out in front. Nguyen needed some help if he was going to keep the hope of a sixth bracelet alive, but it was not to be as the {Q-Diamonds} turn and {2-Hearts} river blanked.

Nguyen, who finished runner-up in Event #24 $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better earlier this series, exited in eighth place with his second final table of the summer under his belt.

Ohel Lets Two Go

• Tase 23: 10,000-20,000, 0 ante

Randy Ohel has just been involved in a couple of hands to see two pots go in the opposite direction of his stack. The first was against Roch Cousineau, with Cousineau starting the hand by opening the button to 50,000. Ohel called in the big blind and both players would check the {4-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades} flop. On the {q-Hearts} turn, Ohel check-folded to a bet of 65,000 from Cousineau.

The very next hand and Ohel would sit in the small blind and call a raise from Yuval Bronshtein preflop. On the {a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop, Ohel check-folded to bet of 100,000 from Bronshtein, at which point Bronshtein tabled {a-}{a-}{k-}{k-}.

Baker Quarters Cousineau in Monster Pot

David "ODB" Baker
David "ODB" Baker

David "ODB" Baker and Roch Cousineau each put in 45,000 preflop and saw a flop of {9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}. Cousineau checked and allowed Baker to bet 90,000, but then he sprung to life with a check-raise to 275,000. Baker responded by moving all in for 324,000 more, and Cousineau made the call.

Showdown
Cousineau: {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}
Baker: {8-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{A-Spades}

Baker held the nut straight, while the {3-Hearts} turn gave both players the same low. The {3-Spades} river changed nothing and Baker took the high and half the low, quartering Cousineau in a very juicy pot.

Bell Beats Zhokov

Folded to Viacheslav Zhukov in the cutoff, he raised it up to 40,000. Chris Bell called out of the big blind and a {9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} flop was dealt. Bell check-called a bet of 45,000 here and then both players checked the {8-Spades} turn. On the {q-Hearts} river, Bell led for 75,000 and after some thought, Zhukov called.

When Bell tabled his {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, the straight was enough to scoop up the pot.
