Affleck Slipping

[user101598]

Matt Affleck and an opponent were heads up on a flop of {q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. Affleck check-called a 5,000-chip bet, and the turn brought the {j-Hearts}. Affleck checked again, and his opponent fired 7,000. Affleck tank-called.

The {6-Spades} completed the board, and Affleck checked a third time.

"Set of jacks," the player announced, tabling {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}. "Thought you might be slow-playing something."

Affleck mucked, and his stack slipped to 85,000.

Forrest Takes a Brutal Beat

We don't know exactly how the action went preflop, but we know some substantial betting took place, because there was around 17,000 in the pot when the dealer spread the {k-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop. It was here that Forrest checked and his opponent in later position moved all in for 27,325. Forrest gave a mild shrug and pushed his stack in the middle for a call. Cards were then tabled, and it was Forrest who was ahead.

Forrest: {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}

Forrest was well out in front, but anything can happen as you will see. The {4-Spades} on the turn gave Forrest's opponent a flush draw to go along with his king draw. As long as Forrest could avoid these outs then he would shoot up the chip counts and have more than a healthy stack to make a deep run. Indeed a spade did come as the {10-Spades} made its presence known on the river.

Zeidman Off to See Some Sights

[user139916]

Cory Zeidman was all in for about 8,000 with {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} against an opponent's {A-Clubs}{5-Hearts}.

The flop fell {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, giving Zeidman both a broadway draw and flush draw to beat his opponent's pair of aces. Neither the {8-Clubs} turn nor {4-Clubs} river were any help to Zeidman, though, ending his Main Event.

Top Set for Audé

[user101598]

Jamil Kanji opened to 850 from early position, a player called in middle position, and Erik Audé, who's appeared in movies like Dude Where's My Car and Van Wilder, called near the button.

The dealer fanned {3-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, and Kanji continued for 1,100. The player in middle position called, and Audé raised to 3,100. Both players released, and Audé flashed what appeared to be two nines to our reporter.

Finne Busts One

[user68268]

Tim Finne just busted a player to move to 45,000 in chips after his pocket tens held up against his opponent's {A-}{Q-}. The two got the money all in preflop as the board ran out king high with no help to his opponent.

Mordue Doubles After Strange Call

[user68268]

On the {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop, James Mordue was all in for a few thousand with his opponent in the tank. While his opponent was tanking, Mordue turned over one card and showed the {10-Clubs} for at least top pair. His opponent tanked for a bit longer, commenting about how he felt he was in really bad shape, but the odds were still pretty good to make the call.

Eventually, the player made the call and Mordue turned over his other card to reveal the {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. "Ahhh, you got me in really bad shape," his opponent said before turning over the {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

The turn and river completed the board with the {Q-Clubs} and {7-Clubs} to allow Mordue to double up.
