Jake Balsiger started the hand with the button, and Greg Merson received a walk.
Russell Thomas had the button. He raised to 1.2 million. From the small blind, Jake Balsiger reraised to an even three million. Thomas folded, and Balsiger won the pot.
Jesse Sylvia started the hand with the button. He opened to 1.4 million, Jake Balsiger three-bet to 3.3 million from the big blind, and Sylvia folded.
Greg Merson had the button with his massive chip stack to start this hand. Action folded to Jesse Sylvia in the small blind. He raised to 1.5 million. Russell Thomas reraised to 4.6 million from the big blind and won the pot.
Jeremy Ausmus started the hand with the button. He opened to 1.2 million, and won the pot.
If Greg Merson wins the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event, then he will also win the 2012 Player of the Year race. Phil Hellmuth, who currently sits in first place in the points standings, finished runner-up last year to Ben Lamb and in 2006 to Jeff Madsen, and is fervently anti-sweating Merson:
The remaining five players are now on break. We will have updated chip counts for you shortly.
